This month we are featuring a Team Capitol DC teammate from American University. Meet Kelsey Janelle Marsh.

Q: Tell us about yourself. What are you studying at AU and where is your hometown?

A: I am working towards my Master of Fine Arts in Film & Electronic Media at American University.  Prior to becoming a Washingtonian, I grew up in Mansfield, TX.

Q: What is your role on Team Capitol DC and what projects do you work on for HARVEST HOME?

A: My role on Team Capitol DC is the production coordinator for our new media efforts – YouTube and Flickr accounts. I work with a wonderful team of video professionals who are eager to showcase the greatness of HARVEST HOME.

Q: Why did you get involved with the 2013 Solar Decathlon and Team Capitol DC?

A: I was approached to join Team Capitol DC late last fall after filming a sequence for our walkthrough video. Prior to the shoot I was unfamiliar with U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, but once I realized what the competition stood for I was on board as “green” living is something I’m passionate about.

Q: What do you like best about being a member of Team Capitol DC and taking part in the Solar Decathlon?

A: The friendships gained through our tri-university collaboration are the highlight of Team Capitol DC! I’ve met several talented, inspiring individuals and I wish everyone well in their future endeavors.

Q: What do you like best about living in Washington D.C.?

A: The diversity amongst Washingtonians always makes for interesting moments that bring a smile to my face.

Q: What do you hope to do in you career? What is your dream job?

A: My ultimate goal is to teach documentary filmmaking in southern Africa.

Q:  What are your other interests and hobbies?

A: I’m a runner, baker, avid reader and margarita aficionado.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: My favorite food is tex-mex.

Q: What is your dream vacation destination? Or what is your favorite place to vacation and why?

A: My favorite place I’ve vacationed was Cape Town, South Africa because it has everything: the hustle and bustle of a big metropolitan city as well as a laid-back beachy vibe.
